Frequently Asked Questions

The in-ear speakers worked perfect when I first used it. Now, the sound isn't coming out as clear on one or both sides. What's wrong?

As noted in the Critical Instructions, we highly recommend that each ear be properly cleaned prior to usage. The most likely root of the problem is ear wax pluggin up the small hole opening of the ear tip. Simply follow the instructions for removing and cleaning (or replacing) the ear tip. Also, check in-ear speaker filters to ensure wax has not accumulated. Continue to monitor the openings of each ear tip to avoid this issue in the future. If problem persists, contact customer service at info@studiophonic.com.

Which product is best for me? What are the differences between the Platinum 25 and Gold 20 Series?

Other than the price, there are 5 differences that each user should consider when evaluating these products:
1. The Platinum 25 Series was designed for the most sophisticated listeners (known as audiophiles). Users will recognize a richer, warmer auditory experience with the Platinum 25 Series.
2. The Platinum 25 Series provides a maximum of 25 decibels of noise reduction while Gold 20 series offers up to 20 decibels of noise reduction.
3. The Platinum 25 Series is made with an insulated, high quality cable that is more effective in reducing interference. The Gold 20 series is made with a light cable, a benefit of particular interest to users where size and weight are important.
4. The Platinum 25 Series is proudly assembled in the USA by trained sound laboratory technicians. Light meters are used to match the performance of both the left and right sides for an accurate and powerful listening experience. The Gold 20 Series is made in China.
5. The Platinum 25 Series weighs 28 grams and the Gold 20 Series weighs just 12 grams. Both less than 1 once!

When wearing StudioPhonic HEAROS I'm able to listen at lower levels. How is this possible?

There are 2 factors that assist the user to listen at reduced levels and save their hearing. First, depending on the model, the noise reducing ear tips cut out 20 to 25 decibels of environmental noise so that your ears do not have to compete with distractions to hear the intended sounds. In addition, because the in-ear speakers are placed in your ear canals the sounds are delivered "direct to brain" with accuracy and clarity. The second influence are the tiny, yet powerful in-ear speakers. It is important that the listener follow the instructions to turn the volume to zero when first trying StudioPhonic HEAROS and then use care and responsibility with the volume levels.

What does it mean to "Insert and Seal" the in-ear speakers?

First, please carefully read the instructions. Then it's important to realize immediately that these products are unlike any other type of earphones, ear pods or headphones. StudioPhonic HEAROS are dependent upon the user to properly insert the in-ear speakers into each ear canal to achieve high fidelity sound AND, isolation chamber like-noise reduction. While inserting in-ear speakers in ear canals does not put the user at risk for injury, it is imperative for the product to perform to its capabilities. If you know you are uncomfortable putting anything in your ears, we suggest you do not buy this product.

I'm not getting a proper fit or "seal" in my ear canal, what can I do?

There are 2 possible explanations for not getting a proper seal. One, the instructions are not being followed or two, your ear canals are too narrow for the silicone flange tips. As stated in the instructions, it is critical that a free hand (the one that is not holding the in-ear speaker) is used to "open and expand" your ear canal. Then insert the in-ear speaker as deep as is comfortable. If done correct, you will notice an immediate reduction in sound. If after following the instructions a proper seal is not achieved, try replacing the silicone ear tips with the foam ear tips. Please note that the foam ear tips must be compressed and rolled (back and forth) in order to reduce the foam to a size that will fit deep in the ear canal. Similar to the silicone tips, be sure to open and expand the ear canal using the free hand as noted above.

How often should the ear tips be replaced?

Since the silicone flange tips can be washed and reused, they will have a longer life cycle than the foam tips. The silicone ear tips should be changed if they become cut or cracked. The foam tips should be replaced once dirt or ear wax accumulates on the foam or if the foam fails to expand.

What is the "lick and stick" method?

For use with the silicone tips only, we recommend that just prior to insertion the flange tips are slightly moistened with saliva. The saliva serves as lubricant to assist in attaining the best seal possible.

What are the benefits of the shirt clip?

Whether StudioPhonic HEAROS are used for travel, sports or listening at home, the shirt clip helps to reduce cable movement which in turn diminishes interference. Also, when the in-ear speakers are stored, the shirt clip can be helpful for keeping the cable from getting tangled.

For reducing noise, will the StudioPhonic HEAROS noise reducing ear tips work if the product is not plugged in?

Yes, the noise reducing ear tips are "active" noise reducers that can be used at any time or place to reduce environmental noise.

Do StudioPhonic HEAROS require any batteries?

No.
